Theme Units: Beach Week

We are trying to soak in whatever fun we can during this unusual summer at our house.  We are doing "Beach Week" this week both at home with my own children and in teletherapy with my patients.  Here are some of the beachy things we've been doing and playing with.

Shark Bite

This is a fun and engaging game.  You can play it as it is or you can adapt it for therapy, especially when doing teletherapy. This week I used to to work on spatial positions (putting items "in" the shark's mouth and letting him spit them "out").  You could pick beach themed toys, color objects, cards for articulation, anything really!

Melissa and Doug Fishing and Counting Game

This one is great for turn-taking, number identification, counting, following directions and colors!

This is an activity set I made with simple bath toys and a muffin tin. I use them for simple "Put In" and "Take Out" core language and following directions instruction, colors, spatial positions, and to feed the shark from the shark bite game. They are also great for teaching ocean life vocabulary.

Here is a video on incorporating real and digital games into sessions for teletherapy.

There are dozens of other speech and language games available in my shop on Teachers Pay Teachers and on Boom Learning.
